Overview:

We are seeking a enthusiastic entry-level candidate who is a service-oriented team player with excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills who enjoys helping people. They should have a recent B.S degree in biology or related field. The candidate will be ready to help researchers with basic aspects of light and electron microscopy sample preparation and imaging projects within the UIC. Microscopy experience from sample preparation to image acquisition and analysis would be a strong plus. A strong desire and willingness to learn is a must, as training in techniques and skills will be a integral part of the position.

Researcher 2 - University Imaging Centers

The Researcher 2 position will serve as part of a University-wide shared research facility, the University Imaging Centers. Trains, facilitates and supports researchers (faculty, staff, students and external users) in light microscopy and performs research using light microscopy.  This includes sample preparation, image acquisition from high-end shared instrumentation and image analysis of imaging projects in a dynamic multi-user environment in support of the end-user research program.  Position also involves providing basic experimental design consultation regarding light microscopy.  In addition, responsible for instrument maintenance, calibration and creating and optimizing procedures and SOP user manuals.
